Deleting your account
Here is how to delete your SprayNotes account and what happens to your data.
How to delete your account
You can delete your account yourself, in the mobile app or in the web app:
- In the mobile app, go to More → Settings. In the web app, open Settings.
- In the Account section, choose Delete account.
- Confirm your decision.
What happens to an active subscription
App Store (iPhone, iPad): deleting your account does not cancel your subscription, and we cannot cancel it for you because Apple does not allow it. Cancel it yourself in your App Store subscription settings, or it will keep renewing.
Google Play (Android): we cancel your subscription when your account is permanently deleted. You can also cancel it earlier in your Google Play subscriptions.
Paid by card on our website: once you request deletion, we ask for your subscription renewal to be turned off. If we cannot confirm that it was, we will let you know and try again. Unused subscription time is not refunded after your account is permanently deleted.
What happens after you delete your account
You are signed out straight away
As soon as you confirm the deletion, you are signed out of the app.
Deletion begins
In the current app and on the web, deletion starts right away, with no grace period. Once you confirm, you cannot change your mind or restore the account. If the confirmation screen in an older version of the app promised you 30 days to change your mind, we keep that period.
Your data is permanently deleted
We delete your account and your data, including from our service providers. If something fails, we try again. When it is done, we will confirm by email. The only exception is data the law requires us to keep for a set period.
Earlier requests and older versions of the app
If we told you when you made your request that you had 30 days to change your mind, your original deadline still stands, even after you update the app. You can cancel the deletion before it passes:
- Open the app and sign in to your account.
- You will see a screen saying your account is waiting to be deleted.
- Tap the button to cancel the deletion.
Once you cancel, your data stays exactly as it was.
What data is deleted
When your account is permanently deleted, we remove the data linked to it from our systems. The exception is data the law requires us to keep for longer, such as billing records. Our Privacy Policy sets out how long we keep it.
We also delete the data held by providers who process it on our behalf: your subscription record at RevenueCat and your customer details at Stripe, including any saved card details. Invoices and billing records cannot be deleted, because tax law requires us to keep them.
Signed in with Apple or Google: when we delete your account, we try to disconnect the sign-in using the authorisation details we have. If they are no longer available, the provider does not respond or you decline the request to confirm your identity, you can disconnect the app yourself. Apple: Settings → [your name] → Sign-In & Security → Sign in with Apple. Google: myaccount.google.com/connections.
Please note: deletion without a grace period cannot be undone once you confirm it. Earlier requests with a 30-day period can only be cancelled before their original deadline.
